Jean Silzer, CMP
As president of Details Convention & Event Management, Jean Silzer, CMP, has provided conference and event management services to the Calgary meetings and event industry for over 20 years. Testimonials from past and current clients sing Jean's praises, calling her "creative," "well organized," someone who "kept on budget," and "helps to keep the committee on track and working together."
Jean Silzer has recently been named to Meeting & Incentive Travel magazine and MeetingsCanada.com's Hall of Fame. As the 2010 Hall of Fame Inductee for "Industry Builder" Jean has been recognized for developing best practices, creating professional guidelines and improving the way the industry does business.
What makes Jean and Details such a unique, dynamic duo? With a background in teaching, Jean brings her extensive knowledge of learning styles and appreciation for life-long education to the conference planning industry. She understands how to connect to people in different ways, and incorporates various learning approaches into every program and full service conference she designs - down to the smallest of details, of course! In fact, when she received the Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation in 1990, Jean was the first Alberta meeting planner to receive this designation. In working to teach future meeting professionals, Jean chaired and co-wrote the revisions to Meeting Planners International's (MPI) textbook, "MPI's Planning Guide: A Source for Meetings & Conventions."
Niesa Silzer, MHA
With an extensive event planning background, as well as her professional past as a stage manager for touring Broadway musicals, Niesa brings unprecedented talent to Details. Most recently, Niesa has returned from serving as a Client Experience Architect for Tourism Toronto, where she became known for developing unforgettable experiences. Today, she is committed to taking your event to the next strategic level. Her relationships with planners, suppliers and convention vendors throughout Calgary and across Canada will ensure a strong program for you and your guests.
Niesa has earned a Masters Degree in Hospitality Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, with a concentration in convention and event management. In 2005 Niesa was recognized with a nomination for the MPI Toronto Chapter's "New Member of the Year" award for her ongoing commitment to the advancing the meeting profession industry and has served on the board of the Calgary Chapter of MPI. In 2010 Niesa was awarded the "Planner of the Year" Chinook award from MPI Calgary. Niesa currently teaches Event Production at Mount Royal University.
